President of Persian Gulf University
In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful Distinguished Faculty Members, Esteemed Researchers, Dedicated Staff, and Dear Students—the Future Builders of Persian Gulf University The beginning of a new academic year marks a renewed commitment to knowledge, reason, and the flourishing of thought. I warmly extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes on this auspicious occasion to the great and proud family of Persian Gulf University—an boundless sea of knowledge and wisdom, standing alongside the boundless sea of Iran’s dignity, resilience, and national identity. The year we have left behind was marked by numerous events, challenges, ups and downs, and bitter and sweet experiences at both the national and international levels. These were times that, more than ever, revealed the challenges and injustices faced by our beloved Iran amid the turbulence of global affairs, while underscoring the need for deeper reflection, careful consideration, and a profound examination of our historical heritage and the complex dynamics of global powers. Amid these storms and towering waves, it is undoubtedly our deep-rooted civilizational heritage and identity that have kept the strong trunk of this ancient land steadfast and resilient. Within this rich civilizational landscape, the university is truly an unparalleled and invaluable blessing—an institution that has taken root in society, flourished, and evolved into the most comprehensive scientific institution in the country. Throughout history, universities have served as pioneers, guides, and compasses for society, cultivating highly skilled, committed, and capable professionals and contributing to the dignity and countless achievements of our nation. Indeed, it is enough to pause for a moment and consider: without this influential institution, where would our country stand today in the global landscape of science and development? Our historical and lived experience has made it clear that competition in today’s world is, first and foremost, a “war of science and technology.” Even our military strength and deterrence capabilities are firmly rooted in science and innovation. Scientific production, intellectual leadership, and the distinguished presence of our scholars among the world’s scientific leaders are bright realities that have continued with strength, perseverance, and unwavering determination, even through the most difficult periods and amid wars and constraints. At the same time, the university represents a powerful manifestation of our soft power—a form of influence that reaches far beyond and operates at a deeper level than any material or hard-power capability. The university’s mission extends well beyond education and research. Promoting public culture, fostering rational thought, and advancing reason, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence in society are among its fundamental responsibilities. Amid the tumult of dependent and non-independent media, which can spread uncertainty and distrust, universities and the community of scholars, through awareness-building and a commitment to truth, can serve as a refuge for society and a steadfast pillar of national resilience. Today, our shared responsibility is, more than ever, to strengthen the connection between the country’s young, talented, and dynamic generation and science, expertise, and our authentic Iranian-Islamic identity. The dignity and future of this land are closely tied to the standing and credibility of its universities. The university is a vast, national, and irreplaceable asset, and it is the responsibility of every member of the academic community to value this great gift and contribute to safeguarding, protecting, and advancing its standing and mission. Wishing all those devoted to the pursuit of knowledge, and all the proud servants of our beloved Iran, a year filled with academic vitality, intellectual horizons, and lasting achievements.
