Based on the result of the universities ranking of D8 group countries in 2022; Turkey with 166 universities, Iran with 80 universities, and Indonesia with 60 universities have the most universities in this ranking.

According to the list announced by the Islamic World Science Citation Database (ISC), Persian Gulf University, jointly with the Urmia University of Technology, was ranked 279th in the 2022 ranking of the universities of the D8 group countries, one step up from the last year. There are 496 universities in the ISC ranking system from 8 countries.

It is worth noting that, in this ranking more than 1622 organizations have been evaluated, and only 496 universities from 8 Islamic countries were able to reach the initial condition which was the publication of at least 150 documents in the InCites database during the period of 2018-2020.
