Plant Genetics and Breeding

The Office of International Affairs and Overseas Students at Persian Gulf University announces this call for applicants interested in Plant Breeding, Plant Genetics, Plant Biology, Plant Physiology, Plant Biotechnology, Medicinal Plants, Plant Production, Plant Science and related fields. The details of the call can be found as follows:

Supervisors

Dr. Mohammad Modarresi, Persian Gulf University;
Dr. Mojtaba Ghasemi, Persian Gulf University;

Completion

Two Scopus-indexed publications (both of them in the JCR IF Journal) are required to complete the project.

Who can apply?

Bachelor's degree holders (or last year of B.Sc.) in Agriculture/Agronomy, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Plant Biology, Plant Physiology, Biotechnology, Medicinal Plants, Botany, Plant Science, and/or closely related fields.

Qualifications

1- Familiar with the methods of growing plants in the field and greenhouse and their management
2- Phenotyping and recording the appearance characteristics of plants and collecting data from the field and greenhouse
3- Familiar with the methods of growing plants in the field and greenhouse and their management.
4- Phenotyping and recording the morpho-physiological characteristics of plants and data collection from the field and greenhouse.
5- Expertise in the extraction methods of the medicinal plants essential oil.
6- Positive background in DNA, RNA, protein, and secondary metabolites' extraction methods and molecular approaches.
7- Good proficiency in statistical data analysis software such as Excel, SAS, R, SPSS, etc.
8- Sufficient knowledge in English in order to read and write scientific manuscripts. 7- Basic knowledge in cytogenetics techniques including (chromosome counting and karyotyping).
